Bench...

Just a quick post. My new Bench glasses arrived yesterday...they are AWESOME!! They were a birthday gift from my mum.

Today is...let's make a new watermark day

I was talking to my friend Richie at work who is also very much into photography (check out his stuff here) and we were talking about the photographs I took last weekend of the new Arc shopping centre in Bury St Edmunds, in particular the shot with me leaning against the tree (see my flickr set titled Urban)

He came up with the great idea of using the silhouette of me leaning against the tree as a watermark for my photographs instead of just using my name (©iannorris) he said it would be the "the ultimate signature"

So naturally I gave this a shot.....Now, have any of you actually tried to cut out a tree from an image? Well let me tell you! It's practically impossible! So I decided to fore go the tree and just use me instead.

Anyway, check out the two photographs below, one colour, one black & white using the new watermark.

Dreams...

My girl has written a post about her dreams, which has lead me to think about mine.

The question I really should start with is: Do I have dreams? Do I dream of a specific kind of life in my future? Do I dream of living in a particular place? Or do I dream of a fulfilled life with someone special?

You see, I wish for all of these things and I do my best to make them all a reality but are they really what I dream of? I'm not so sure, I'm not so sure that I even dream of things at all. Some of you may think that is quite sad, not to have dreams and some people may say that dreaming and wishing for things are one in the same, if that were true, both things would come under a word of the same description right?

I have this theory about dreams, both asleep and awake.....we only dream of things we can not have, our fears or for things that have no place in our future.

I think this is why I don't consider myself a dreamer, I'm the kind of man that has a wish and works hard to make sure that wish comes true.

As for my future, well, I had a wish for a future filled with love, happiness, commitment, sharing, compassion, foreverness (if that's even a word) and for a while there I really did think that it would not happen for me but guess what? IT DID, I have found all of that, some of it was just pure luck, the way we met for example, but the rest has come from working hard, loving unconditionally, communicating with each other about everything, dealing with the rough which always comes with the smooth.

You see, my future is SO bright that it blinds me, some of you may say that's just love, but really, it is SO SO bright. My wish is coming true, has come true. I don't dream for anything else because, you see, I have it all.

I spend a lot of my time hoping, wishing, that everything will last forever, the love, the happiness, all that good stuff...

The question still remains, do I dream? I'm not so sure...but I wish I did

I have had a great weekend this weekend, no time to write about it though which sucks (that's a word my girl uses, she's American) so here are some photo's instead....

Self Photography

I have embarked on a new photography project called This Is Me. Yes I know it's the same title as this blog but once you take a look at the photographs you will see why.

The photographs are mainly tasteful black & white nudes and have been taken, so far, with my Panasonic NV3 - 7.2mega pixel camera. I am using this camera because of it's adaptability and portability. The fact it takes AWESOME shots in the black and white mode is a bonus, which is rare for small camera's. The tones are great and the spot metering system works a charm.

Nothing much else has happened this week, work has been work, gym has been hard and rewarding....Oh, and my girl has been very ill. Only 5 weeks to go!!!

Stuff...

OK people, the flight is booked, the tickets are paid for and I will be jetting off to see my girl in 5 weeks and 4 days.

God I love booking flights to America!!!! It really does fill me with an excitement that is just indescribable.

On another note, I had my first workout at my new gym today and guess what...it was AWESOME! I had the whole place to myself, how cool is that?! Training was good and with no interuptions. Really looking forward to my training this year.

Oh...I also did some photography at the weekend, well, I took 2 pictures...lol. Both were for my girl (see below)

p.s. don't you just hate it when only yesterday you had loads to write about because you had lots going on in your mind and for some reason you did not write it. then when you go to do it today, you just can't seem to get it down...sigh!

Think happy thoughts...

Fairy dust, the thing that made Peter Pan fly in the wonderful Disney movie right? So, I have decided to have a play with the stuff to see if it works for me.

I have found a new technique using Photoshop to create fairy dust and add it to a suitable image.

So guess what I have been doing all morning?

Studio lighting came out of it's box for the first time in a long time, I have to admit to having to give myself a quick refresher course in how it all works, after all, it has been a while since I used it.
