it's for the bold...

Contrary to what the cynics say, distance is not for the fearful, it’s for the bold.

It’s for those who are willing to spend a lot of time apart in exchange for a little time with the one they adore.

It’s for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don’t see it nearly enough.

super advanced technology...

I work for a company called DHL. It boasts itself as being one the largest distribution companies in the world, and it probably is.

It is continuously striving to reach a level of absolute excellence in both customer service and technological advances. Which, from what I have recently seen, seems to be true.

I have, today, been given an opportunity to work for a minimum of 4 months, on secondment, in our stock management division. A post which I am very much looking forward to taking on.

Today was my first look into the advancements that DHL are striving to achieve. As part of my new role I have to take photographs of the stock to help aid the pickers with stock quantity so that pick errors are kept to a minimum.

I was given, what is quite possibly, the most advance piece of photographic equipment I have EVER had the pleasure of using in entire career as a photographer.

Please take a look at the splendor that is the Sony MVC-FD200.

I know that just the look of this equipment will want to make all of you ditch your 16mp Digital SLR's and rush out to buy, if you can afford it, one of these beauties.

BUT WAIT....before you dash out and spend your hard earned cash, please take a moment to view the super advanced media card it uses to store it's data. Such a thing has quite possibly never been seen by today's generation.

I have no idea how Sony have done it, or how DHL have managed to afford such quality, cutting edge equipment.

OK.....on your marks, get set..............GO!! and go quickly before the shops sell out!

distance...

Long-distance relationships have an urgency that couples in short-distance relationships can only dream of. Every second together counts. Every shared meal is savored; every kiss must be good enough to last weeks, maybe even months.

Have you really lived, after all, if you haven’t searched for your beloved’s face at an airport gate, cursing the flight delay because you have only a week before you must part again?

We should all be so lucky to seal in our memories the image of our lover on our doorstep, suitcase in hand, clothes wrinkled from a long trip, skin emanating a scent that we’ve forgotten but suddenly comes rushing back, bringing with it the recollection of the last time, which was too long ago and too brief, and ended with a tearful goodbye on this same doorstep.

It’s the most wonderful and most difficult thing I do in life, and I miss her already.

burning eyes...

Here I am, sat at Heathrow Aiport and it's 03:13am.

Tylar is trying her best to sleep on the floor because all the benches and other seats are taken and too be honest, I think she kind of enjoys it because there are loads of people bumming out with their sleeping bags. She is also enjoying making her first entries into her Travel Journal. She has written a short account of what today has been like and has also added a drawing too.

She has asked if I can blog what she has written in her journal, so here it is:

Day 1 Heathrow

I began my journey when we got to Heathrow Airport. First we got a snack and drink and then relaxed for half an hour, then sat outside in the cool air and not in the stuffy airport...

Here we are 02:25am in the internet part (we have had no sleep) going back outside to hang (and sleep) sitting in front of the computer barely can keep my eyes open...

Can't wait to see Deanna and the boy only another 9 hours of waiting...I think I might doze off...at the moment I am possibly going to sleep, but not in my lovely bed!...

I think she is really enjoying this adventure.

My friend Marc Warren was really good to us today and kindly drove us to the airport. Hopefully he will be back home by now and did not get lost on the way home. Thanks again buddy!!

On another note....I AM KNACKERED. We still have 7hrs until our flight is due to leave and about 2/3 hours before we are able to check in our luggage and go through to departure.

lost in music...

Today I have begun the mammoth task of uploading ALL of my music onto my hard drive ready to take to the USA and transfer onto Deanna's removable drive.

Starting this job has made me realise just how difficult it will be for me take even my small pleasures with me, such as my books and dvd's.

Big stuff such as my HD TV will be sold but I don't want to particularly have to sell books which I have collected over the years and still not read. As for the movies, I love my movies. I don't watch TV at all but I do like to sit and watch a good film.

I have toyed with the idea of getting in touch with a shipping company such as Fedex or DHL and seeing how much it would cost send said items in one go. Alternatively, my parents have agreed that if I pack up everything into small post able packages they will gradually send them over month by month (this seems the better option)

I'm currently sitting at 1157 songs on my iTunes at the moment with an estimated 2000 more to go....
